Tempo di ciliegie!

 Finalmente sulle nostre tavole sono arrivate le ciliegie!! Sono dolci, gustose e fanno anche bene alla nostra salute! Ma...ci sono alcune curiosità che vogliamo condividere con voi:

1. Erano mangiate sin dall'antichità: infatti dei noccioli fossilizzati di ciliegie sono stati trovati in alcune caverne europee abitate da popoli preistorici.

2. Le ciliegie erano un frutto che faceva parte dell’alimentazione degli antichi Romani.

3. Sono state portate in Italia nel primo secolo Avanti Cristo da Lucullo, di ritorno da un viaggio in Turchia.

4. Ci sono molte varietà di ciliegie, solo in Italia ne troviamo 22. Le più pregiate sono le ciliegie di Vignola in Emilia Romagna e quelle di Garbagna in Piemonte.

5. Un comune albero di ciliegie produce in media 10 -15 kg di ciliegie all’anno.

6. La Turchia è il paese che ne produce di più: più di 600.000 tonnellate l’anno!

7. Il termine ciliegia deriva dal greco kérasos, termine che è legato alla città turca di Cerasunte, che oggi si chiama Giresun.

8. Sapete che esiste un campionato internazionale di “sputo” di nocciolo di ciliegie? Si svolge a Celleno, un comune in provincia di Viterbo e il detentore del record è un italiano e ha sputato 22,80 metri! Il record è imbattuto dal 2018.

Cherries have finally arrived on our tables !! They are sweet, tasty and are also good for our health! But ... there are some curiosities we want to share with you:

1. They have been eaten since ancient times: in fact fossilized cherry stones have been found in some European caves inhabited by prehistoric peoples.

7. The term cherry derives from the Greek kérasos, a term that is linked to the Turkish city of Cerasunte, which today is called Giresun.

8. Did you know that there is an international cherry stone spit championship? It takes place in Celleno, a town in the province of Viterbo and the record holder is an Italian who spat 22.80 meters! The record has been unbeaten since 2018.
